JCC Welcomes Emma Litwak, South Hills Day Camps Director

The Jewish Community Center of Greater Pittsburgh is pleased to announce that Emma Litwak has been named the new Director of the JCC South Hills Children, Youth and Family Department and Director of South Hills Day Camps.

“We are so excited to have Emma lead our children’s programs in the South Hills,” said Rachael Speck, JCC Children, Youth and Family Division Director. “She will provide high-quality, impactful programming for the youngest members of our South Hills community and their families.”

Litwak is joining a team that is experienced in dealing with the demands of keeping children safe during the Covid 19 pandemic. The JCC’s top priority is the health and safety of campers, staff and their families. “Planning for summer camp 2021 is based on safety practices and protocols that have been the basis of successful school year All Day at the J programs and summer camp 2020, when the JCC served more than 450 children,” Litwak said.

Litwak, who is deeply connected to the JCC movement and her local Jewish community, has spent the majority of her life participating in or professionally supporting a wide variety of JCC programs, including having attended J&R Day Camp in Monroeville and J Day Camps of the Mandel JCC in Cleveland, Ohio.

Over the past three years, Litwak has worked as a Group Supervisor in the JCC Clubhouse after school program, a Program Coordinator in the JCC Children, Youth and Family Division where she planned Kids Nite Out, JDays and birthday parties, and as the Assistant Director of the Mandel JCC’s Performing Arts Camp.

Most recently, Litwak worked as a School Day Engagement Coordinator to support the virtual learning of kindergarten and first grade students in the JCC Squirrel Hill All Day at the J program. Litwak is a graduate of the University of Pittsburgh, where she earned her degree in psychology and holds certificates in nonprofit-management and Jewish studies.

JCC South Hills Day Camp, for children age 3 to grade 5, will be held June 14 to August 6. Camp is held at the JCC South Hills, built in 1999, which houses comprehensive fitness facilities, 25-yard six-lane heated indoor swimming pool, double-court gymnasium, and several outdoor playgrounds, including an accessible outdoor playground.
